Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Farali Missal Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled 4-5 large

  • Batata chiwda

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Green chillies slit 3

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Roasted peanuts 1/4 cup

  • Roasted peanuts crushed 2 tablespoons

  • Sea salt to taste

  • Batata chiwda 1/2 cup


Step 1

Heat a pan, add ghee and let it melt. Add cumin seeds, green chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and sauté for ten seconds.

Step 2

Crumble the boiled potatoes and add. Add one and a half cups of water and let it come to a boil.

Step 3

Reduce heat and simmer for two to three minutes Add whole peanuts, crushed peanuts, sea salt and simmer for five minutes. Place the batata chewda in serving bowls.

Step 4

Pour the missal over and serve hot with pav.
