Ingredients for Crispy Wontons Recipe

  • Wonton wrappers 24

  • Oil 2 tbsps + to deep fry

  • Garlic chopped 4-6 cloves

  • Spring onions chopped 2

  • Green capsicums chopped 2 medium

  • French beans chopped 8-10 cloves

  • Carrots chopped 2 medium

  • Cabbage chopped 1/2 small

  • White pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • MSG 1/4 teaspoon

  • Soy sauce 1 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Heat two tablespoons of oil in a wok or a pan, add chopped garlic and stir-fry briefly.

Step 2

Add chopped spring onion and capsicums, French beans, carrots and cabbage and continue to stir-fry for a couple of minutes more, stirring and tossing continuously.

Step 3

Add white pepper powder, salt, MSG, soy sauce and cook for half a minute. Set aside to cool.

Step 4

Divide prepared filling into twenty-four equal portions. Place a portion of the filling in the center of a wonton wrapper, wet the edges with a little water, fold into half diagonally, twist the ends and stick.

Step 5

Repeat this process to prepare all the wontons. Heat sufficient oil in a wok, add prepared wontons and deep-fry for two to three minutes or until crisp and golden brown in colour. Drain onto an absorbent paper. Serve hot with Sichuan sauce.
