Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Cheesy Paneer Bread Recipe

  • Cheddar cheese grated ¼ cup

  • Mozzarella cheese grated ¼ cup

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) cut into 2 inch slices 200 grams

  • White bread slices 8

  • Oil for deep-frying

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Red chilli flakes 1 tablespoon

  • Olives pitted, finely chopped 3-4

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Pickled jalapenos finely chopped 1

  • coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Refined flour (maida) 3-4 tablespoons

  • Bread crumbs panko for coating

Method

Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a pan.

Step 2

Take onion in a bowl. Add chilli flakes, black olives, garlic, jalapenos, coriander leaves, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, salt and crushed peppercorns and mix well.

Step 3

Trim off the edges of bread slices and roll them out using a rolling pin

Step 4

Place one cottage cheese slice in the center of 4 bread slices. Put some cheese mixture on top, apply some water on the edges and cover with remaining bread slices. Cut into triangles.

Step 5

Take flour in another bowl. Add some water and mix to make smooth slurry.

Step 6

Spread bread crumbs on a plate.

Step 7

Dip each bread triangle in slurry and coat with breadcrumbs.

Step 8

Deep-fry bread triangles in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 9

Serve hot.
