Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Cantonese Chicken Recipe

  • Boneless chicken cut into thin strips 250 grams

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Noodles boiled 1 cup

  • Bean sprouts 1 cup

  • Spring onion greens chopped 2-3 stalks

  • Soy sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic minced 1 tablespoon

  • Ginger cut into juliennes 1 inch

  • Vinegar 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cornstarch 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Chicken stock 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Heat ½ tablespoon oil in a non-stick wok. Add noodles and sauté for half a minute. Add bean sprouts and mix. Add spring onion greens, soy sauce and mix well.

Step 2

Add salt and ½ teaspoon pepper powder and mix well. Cook for a minute.

Step 3

Heat remaining oil in another non-stick wok. Add garlic and sauté till lightly browned. Add chicken strips, mix and cook on high heat till chicken changes colour.

Step 4

Add remaining pepper powder and salt and mix well. Add ginger juliennes and mix well.

Step 5

Add vinegar and mix. Add sugar, mix well and simmer for a minute.

Step 6

Take cornstarch in a bowl. Add chicken stock and mix well into a smooth slurry.

Step 7

Add slurry to the chicken and mix well. Increase heat and cook till the sauce thickens and chicken is fully cooked.

Step 8

Transfer chicken in a serving dish. Top with noodle-sprout mixture and serve immediately.
