Method

  1. Transfer split skinless black gram into a grinder jar, add 1 cup water and grind to fine paste.
  2. Add idli rava and grind coarsely. Transfer into a bowl and set aside to ferment for 6-8 hours.
  3. Add salt and mix well.
  4. Heat sufficient water in a steamer. Pour the batter into idli moulds, sprinkle sprouted green gram and gun powder on top and steam for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Demould and serve hot with coconut chutney.
