Jamun Syrup

Jamuns (java plums) are seasonal and available for only a few weeks in a year. So make the most of it, and make this sweet syrup and turn it into a cool refreshing beverage anytime of the year!

Ingredients

Method

  1. Heat a pan, add jamun and 2 cups water and cook on medium heat for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add sugar and continue to simmer till the sugar dissolves. Squeeze the juice of ½ lemon and mix well for 1-2 minutes. Add salt and mix well. Set aside to cool completely.
  3. Pour the mixture into a blender jar and blend to a fine mixture. Strain the mixture into a bowl. Transfer into an air tight container. Use as required.
  4. To make a drink, pour 2 tablespoons syrup into each serving glass, add ¼ teaspoon black salt. Top up with chilled drinking soda, garnish with a few mint leaves and mix well. Serve chilled.
