Ingredients list for Twisted Cinnamon Donuts
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
- 3 cups Refined flour (maida)
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 tablespoons Sugar
- a pinch Salt
- 1 Egg
- 4 teaspoons Fresh yeast
- for deep-frying Oil
- ¼ cup Castor sugar (caster sugar)
Method
- Melt the butter in a non-stick pan. Remove from heat, add the milk, sugar, salt and egg and mix well.
- Add the yeast and set aside for ten to fifteen minutes.
- Take the flour in a bowl. Add the milk mixture and sufficient water and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for fifteen to twenty minutes.
- Transfer the dough on the worktop and knock back to release the excess air. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for fifteen to twenty minutes.
- Heat sufficient oil in a pan.
- Divide the dough into eight equal portions, shape them into balls, roll out into thin cylinders and twist and press both ends to shape like a donut.
- Deep-fry the donuts in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Take cinnamon powder in another bowl. Add the castor sugar and mix well.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top of the donuts. Serve immediately.
