Ingredients list for Sicillian Meat Balls
- 250 grams Mutton Mince
- 15-20 Almonds
- 2 tablespoons Pine nuts(chilgoza)
- 8-10 cloves Garlic
- to taste Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
- 1 Egg
- 100 grams Parmesan cheese shavings
- 2 tablespoons Raisins
- 1/2 cup Bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons Milk
- 4 tablespoons Oil
- 2 bottles Arrabiata sauce (190 gms each)
Method
- Put almonds, pinenuts and garlic cloves in a chopper. Add minced mutton, salt and cinnamon powder and process till well blended.
- Break egg and add and process for some more time. Add parmesan cheese and continue to process. Add raisins and process some more.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a bowl, add milk and mix well. Add mince mixture and mix well. Keep this mixture in the refrigerator for about ½ hour.
- Heat oil in a non stick pan. Dampen your hands, and divide the mince mixture into equal portion. Shape each portion into lemon sized balls and put them in the pan. Cook on high heat, turning sides, for 3-4 minutes.
- Lower heat, cover and cook. When the meat balls are half done, add arabiata sauce mix gently. Cover and cook, on medium heat, for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot.
