Ingredients list for Sattu ka Parantha

  • 1 cup Sattu
  • 200 grams Whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 2 medium Onions finely chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • 1-2 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard oil
  • to taste Salt
  • for dusting Whole wheat flour (atta)
  • for basting Oil


  1. To prepare filling, combine sattu, onions, ginger, green chillies, carom seeds, lemon juice, mustard oil and salt in a bowl, mix and knead into a stiff dough.
  2. Divide the dough into equal portions, make a cavity and stuff it with a spoonful of the prepared filling. Shape them into balls.
  3. Heat a non-stick tawa.
  4. Dust the worktop with some flour. Roll out the prepared balls into thick paranthas.
  5. Place the paranthas on the tawa and roast, basting with oil, till evenly done from both the sides.
  6. Cut into 4 pieces and serve hot with your choice of pickle.
