Ingredients list for Sarson Saag Chicken
- 750 grams Chicken cut into 8 pieces on bone
- 1 cup Spinach puree blanched
- 2 tablespoons Filtered mustard oil (sarson ka tel)
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 1 1/2 inches Ginger
- 8-9 Garlic cloves
- 5 Green chillies
- 5 tablespoons Yogurt
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Gram flour (besan)
- 1 inch Cinnamon
- 10-12 Cloves
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- to taste Salt
Method
- Heat mustard oil in a non-stick pan till it reaches smoking point.
- Roughly chop ginger and put in a grinder jar. Add garlic cloves, roughly chopped green chillies, mustard seeds, yogurt, gram flour and 4-5 tbsps water and grind into a smooth paste.
- Reduce heat, add cinnamon, cloves and cumin seeds to the pan and sauté for ½ minute. Add chicken pieces and salt and mix well. Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add ground paste, mix well, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add spinach puree, mix well, cover and cook till the chicken is fully cooked.
- Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
