Hindi: palak
Treasure house of vitamins and minerals, spinach must be included in the week's menu. The usage can be varied: chopped spinach leaves cooked with potatoes is a semi-wet vegetable with rotis, a few spinach leaves thrown in with mixed vegetables and turned into a soup is lovely on a cold winter night, chopped and blanched spinach makes a different sort of raita, spinach puree can be used in cutlets or kababs, the list goes on.

Ingredients for Palak Sabz Recipe

  • Spinach leaves (palak) chopped 1 bunch

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Onion chopped 3 medium

  • Green chilli chopped 3

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Tomato chopped 2 medium

  • Salt teaspoon


Step 1

Heat oil in a non stick pan add onions and saute till light brown.

Step 2

Add green chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste and saute for a minute. Add tomatoes and saute till oil sufaces. Add spinach leaves, salt and cook till spinach is tender. Serve hot with steamed rice.
