Ingredients list for Mushroom Popcorn
- 16-20 small Button mushrooms stemmed and quartered
- 1 teaspoon Onion powder
- to taste Salt
- a pinch Paprika
- to taste Crushed black peppercorns
- 2 teaspoons Ginger-garlic paste
- 2 teaspoons Lemon juice
- ½ cup Refined flour (maida)
- for deep-frying Oil
- 1 cup Bread crumbs panko
Method
- Put mushrooms in a bowl. Add onion powder, salt, paprika, crushed peppercorns, ginger-garlic paste and lemon juice and mix well. Set aside to marinate for ten to fifteen minutes.
- Put half the flour in another bowl. Add salt and some water and whisk to make a thick slurry.
- Heat sufficient oil in a pan.
- Dust the marinated mushrooms with the remaining flour, dip in the slurry and coat with breadcrumbs.
- Deep-fry the mushroom popcorns in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Serve hot.
