Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Murg Pepper Recipe

  • Chcicken 1 kilogram

  • Peppercorns sliced 1 1/2 cups

  • Tomatoes chopped 3/4

  • Garlic chopped 2 teaspoons

  • Peppercorns 25-30

  • Cloves 6-8

  • Coriander powder 1 tablespoon

  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon

  • Curry leaves optional 8-10

  • Oil 3 tablespoons


Step 1

Clean, wash and skin the chicken. Cut it into twelve pieces. Pound peppercorns to a coarse powder. Mix salt, pounded peppercorns and turmeric powder with the chicken pieces. Keep aside for half an hour.

Step 2

Heat oil in a kadai. Add onions and cloves. Stir fry on medium heat till onions are light brown. Add garlic and cook for a minute. Add coriander powder and tomatoes. Cook till oil leaves the sides. Add marinated chicken, curry leaves and half cup water. Cook covered, stirring occasionally, till chicken is cooked.

Step 3

Adjust seasoning and serve hot.
