Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Mixed Sprouts In Fish Curry Recipe

  • Mixed Sprouts (moong,moth, chana) 250 grams

  • Fresh Cococnut scraped 1/2 cup

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Ginger 2 inch pieces

  • Garlic 15 cloves

  • Roasted cumin seeds 2 teaspoons

  • Roasted coriander seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Dried red chillies 6

  • Onions chopped 2 medium

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Green chilli 1

  • Salt to taste

  • Tamarind pulp 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Chop onions. Heat oil in a non stick pan.

Step 2

Roughly chop ginger and garlic and put in a mixer jar. Add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chillies, coconut and a little water and grind to a smooth paste.

Step 3

Add onions to the pan and sauté till lightly browned. Add mixed sprouts and mix.

Step 4

Add 1 cup water, turmeric powder and mix. Break green chilli and add, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Step 5

Add ground masala and mix. Add salt, tamarind pulp and mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Step 6

Serve hot with steamed rice.
