Ingredients list for Masaledar Shalgam

  • 600 grams Turnip(Shalgam)
  • 4 tablespoons Onion seeds (kalonji)
  • 1 teaspoon Onion seeds (kalonji)
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 cup Tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh mint leaves chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Roasted chana dal powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder

Method

  1. Cut shalgam into cubes. Heat oil in a pan. Add jeera, kalonji and ginger. Add tomatoes and cook. Add coriander, turmeric and red chilli powder. Mix well. Add shalgam and water. Stir. Add chopped coriander and mint and roasted chana dal. Add salt. Cook till shalgam is tender and sauce is thick. Finally add garam masala powder and serve hot.
