Ingredients for Masaledar Shalgam Recipe

  • Turnip(Shalgam) 600 grams

  • Onion seeds (kalonji) 4 tablespoons

  • Onion seeds (kalonji) 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Tomatoes chopped 2 cup

  • Ginger grated 1 tablespoon

  • Coriander powder 1 tablespoon

  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 3 tablespoons

  • Fresh mint leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Roasted chana dal powder 1 tablespoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon


Step 1

Cut shalgam into cubes. Heat oil in a pan. Add jeera, kalonji and ginger. Add tomatoes and cook. Add coriander, turmeric and red chilli powder. Mix well. Add shalgam and water. Stir. Add chopped coriander and mint and roasted chana dal. Add salt. Cook till shalgam is tender and sauce is thick. Finally add garam masala powder and serve hot.
