Ingredients
- 1½ cups hazelnuts
- 3/4 cup gram flour
- Salt to taste
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- ½ teaspoon chaat masala
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- A pinch of baking powder
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon chaat masala for serving
Method
- Place hazelnuts in a big bowl. Add gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, chaat masala, garam masala powder and baking powder and mix.
- Sprinkle one-fourth cup of water so as to coat the hazelnuts with the masala properly. Add two tablespoons of oil and mix again.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. When moderately hot, drop a few hazelnuts at a time, taking care that they do not form lumps, and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp.
- Drain and place on an absorbent paper. Sprinkle chaat masala.
- Cool and serve or store in an airtight container.
