Ingredients list for Masala Chai

  • 2 tablespoons Tea leaves
  • 8-10 Green cardamoms
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon
  • 5-6 Cloves
  • 5-6 Black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon Fennel seeds
  • 1/2 inch Ginger
  • 4 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk

Method

  1. Put green cardamoms, cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorns and fennel seeds in a mixer jar and grind to a fine powder.
  2. Crush ginger in a mortar with a pestle.
  3. Heat 2 cups water in a pan till it comes to a boil, add tea leaves, crushed ginger, sugar and 1 teaspoon ground masala, mix well and let it boil for 3-4 minutes. Add milk and bring it to a boil again.
  4. Strain into serving cups and serve hot.
