Ingredients list for Lemon Chilli Fish with Kurmura

  • 2 Basa fish fillets cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 Lemon
  • 3-4 Green chillies
  • 2 cups Puffed rice (kurmura)
  • 2-3 teaspo tablespoons Oil
  • 1 Medium onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 15-18 Curry leaves
  • 1 Medium red capsicum
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 2-3 teaspoons Castor sugar
  • for garnishing Micro shoots


  1. Heat 2-3 tsps oil in a non-stick pan. Heat 2 tbsps oil in another non-stick pan.
  2. Finely chop green chillies. Add onion to the second pan and saute.
  3. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder to the first pan. Add puffed rice and salt and mix well.
  4. When the onion turns translucent add curry leaves and green chillies and mix well.
  5. Roughly chop red capsicum and add to the onion mixture. Add salt and coriander powder and mix well. Add fish pieces and mix well. Add lemon juice and mix. Cover and cook till the fish is done.
  6. Add castor sugar to the puffed rice and mix well.
  7. Spread some of the puffed rice mixture on a serving plate, top with cooked fish, cover with remaining puffed rice, garnish with micro shoots and serve immediately.
