Ingredients for Kulith Cha Saar Recipe

  • Horsegram 1 1/2 cups

  • Garlic 10 cloves

  • Whole dry red chillies 2-3

  • Tamarind 1 lemon sized ball

  • Coriander seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Jaggery (gur) to taste

  • Salt to taste

  • Coconut oil 1 tablespoon

Method

Step 1

Wash and soak horse gram overnight in three cups of water. Pressure cook in the water in which the gram had been soaked. Strain the water and use it to prepare saar.

Step 2

Cooked gram may be used to make ussal. Peel and wash four garlic cloves and grind them with red chillies, tamarind, coriander seeds and handful of cooked horse gram.

Step 3

Add jaggery, salt and the ground masala to the strained water. Bring it to boil.
