Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Gur Mawa Roti Recipe

  • Jaggery (gur) grated 1/2 cup

  • Mawa (khoya) 1/2 cup

  • leftover rotis 4

  • Cashewnuts chopped 1/4 cup

  • Pistachios chopped 1/4 cup

  • Almonds chopped 1/4 cup

  • Nutmeg powder to sprinkle

  • Green cardamom powder to sprinkle

  • Ghee for basting

Method

Step 1

Place 2 rotis on a worktop. Spread some grated jaggery and some mawa evenly over rotis. Top with some cashewnuts, some pistachios and some almonds. Sprinkle some nutmeg powder and cardamom powder on top and cover with the remaining rotis.

Step 2

Heat a non-stick pan. Place the prepared rotis and roast, basting with ghee, till evenly done from both the sides.

Step 3

Cut roasted rotis into 4 pieces and serve hot.
