Ingredients list for Dahi Chana

  • 1 1/2 cups Yogurt (dahi)
  • 1 cup Chickpeas (kabuli chana) soaked overnight and boiled with salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 3 Green chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garam masala powder
  • to taste Salt
  • for garnishing A fresh coriander sprig

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and sauté for ½ minute. Add onion and sauté till it turns a light golden.
  2. Roughly chop green chillies and add along with ginger-garlic paste, mix and sauté for 1 minute.
  3. Add chickpeas and toss. Add yogurt and mix well. Mash a little with a hand blender and mix well. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add turmeric powder and garam masala powder and mix well. Add salt, mix well, cover and cook on medium heat for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Transfer into a serving dish and serve hot garnished with coriander sprig.
