Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Creamy Garlic Potatoes Recipe

  • Potatoes peeled 4-5 medium

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Milk 1 cup

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Spring onion with greens 4

  • Crushed black peppercorns 1 tsp

  • Garlic cloves 3

  • Butter 1 tablespoon


Step 1

Cut potatoes into cubes.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add chopped garlic and potatoes and mix well. Add salt, mix and toss.

Step 3

Add ½ cup milk, stir, cover and cook.

Step 4

Roughly chop spring onion bulbs. Reserve two of the spring onion green stalks.

Step 5

Add chopped spring onion bulbs to the pan, mix well, cover and cook till the potatoes turn soft.

Step 6

Roughly chop the reserved spring onion green stalks.

Step 7

Add remaining milk, salt, half the chopped spring onion greens and 1 tsp crushed peppercorns. Mix well, cover and cook till done.

Step 8

Add crushed garlic and butter, mix well and cook for a minute.

Step 9

Serve hot garnished with crushed peppercorns and remaining chopped spring onion greens.
