History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Bread Vada Recipe

  • Bread crumbs 1 cup

  • Yogurt 1/2 cup

  • Rice flour 1/2 cup

  • Carrots chopped 3/4 cup

  • Onion chopped 1/4 cup

  • Green chilli chopped 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Fresh mint leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Soda bicarbonate a pinch

  • Oil to deep fry


Step 1

Combine chopped onion, carrots, green chillies, mint, coriander leaves and yogurt. Mix well.

Step 2

Add rice flour, cooking soda, salt, breadcrumbs and a little water. Mix thoroughly. Keep aside for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Apply oil on your palm and then shape in to round vadas Deep fry in medium hot oil till light brown and crisp. Remove and serve with the choice of chutney.
