Ingredients list for Batata Kaapa

  • 3-4 large Potatoes peeled
  • Semolina
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Sambhar powder
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup Semolina (suji/rawa)
  • 1/2 cup Rice flour
  • for shallow frying Oil


  1. Cut potatoes into half centimeter thick round slices and place them in a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, sambhar powder and lemon juice, mix well and set aside.
  2. Mix semolina and rice flour and spread on a plate.
  3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan.
  4. Roll potato slices in semolina-rice flour mixture and place them on the pan. Shallow-fry, turning sides, till potatoes are cooked and evenly done from both sides. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Serve hot.
