By Sanjeev Kapoor 24 Nov 2021 in Recipes Course New Update Advertisment Main Ingredients Rice, Split skinless black grams (dhuli urad dal) Cuisine Gujarati Course Snacks and Starters Prep Time 8-10 hour Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for White Dhokla 1 cup Rice , soaked for 4 hours and drained 1/2 cup Split skinless black grams (dhuli urad dal) , soaked for 4 hours and drained 1/2 cup Yogurt 2 teaspoons Ginger-green chilli paste to taste Salt a pinch Fruit salt to grease Oil to taste Black peppercorns , crushed Method Put rice in a mixer jar, add split black gram and sufficient water and grind into smooth and thick batter. Transfer into a bowl. Add yogurt and mix well. Cover and set aside to ferment for 7-8 hours. Heat some water in a steamer. Cover and let the water boil. Add ginger-green chilli paste, salt and fruit salt to the batter and mix well. Grease a steel plate with some oil and pour the batter into it till ¼ full, spread evenly and tap. Sprinkle some crushed peppercorns on top, place the plate in the hot steamer, cover and steam for 10 minutes. Remove from the steamer.
