Ingredients list for Raw Banana Porichathu

  • 4 medium Raw Banana
  • 1/2 teaspoon Rice Flour
  • 4 tablespo Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • to taste Salt
  • 6-8 Curry leaves finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Rice flour

Method

  1. Peel off just a thin layer of the banana skins and slice them lengthways into one-fourth inch thick slices.
  2. Soak them in water to avoid discolouration. Drain and place in a glass bowl, add quarter teaspoon turmeric powder and cook in the microwave on 100% for two minutes. Drain.
  3. Combine together four tablespoons oil, red chilli powder, remaining turmeric powder, coriander powder and ginger-garlic paste in a bowl.
  4. Add salt, curry leaves and mix. Add the rice flour and mix well. Apply this masala to either side of the banana slices.
  5. Heat sufficient oil in a non stick pan and place the banana slices in a single layer and shallow fry, turning sides, till golden and crisp on both sides.
  6. Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
