Available in various types, shapes and sizes, these edible fungi (purely vegetarian!) are a great way to glam-up your dishes. Talking about the types, there are – button, enoki, morel, oyster, shiitake, porcini, chanterelle and portabella. Buy the ones with a firm texture and even colour with tightly-closed caps. If the gills are showing, it is an indication of age and they are probably past their prime.

Ingredients for Mushroom with Suva and Garlic Recipe

  • Button Mushrooms 20-22

  • Dill Leaves chopped 1 1/2 - 2 cups

  • Garlic finely chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Crushed black peppercorns 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Dried mango powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Juice of 1 lemon


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add garlic and sauté till garlic turns light golden. Quarter the mushrooms and add to the pan.

Step 2

Add crushed black peppercorns, garam masala powder, dried mango powder and salt and toss well. Cook till all the moisture dries up.

Step 3

Add dill and lemon juice and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
