Ingredients list for Mag ni Dhokli

  • 1 cup Green gram ( moong) flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Coriander-cumin powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 3 tablespoons + for greasing Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds

Method

  1. Take green gram flour in a bowl, add¼ teaspoon turmeric powder, ½ teaspoon red chilli powder, ¼ teaspoon coriander-cumin powder, salt, 2 tablespoons oil and sufficient water and knead into a soft dough.
  2. Boil sufficient water in a non-stick pan.
  3. Grease your palms with little oil. Divide the dough into small equal portions and shape each portion into coin shaped dhokli.
  4. Add the dhoklis to the boiling water and cookon high heat for 10-15 minutes or till the dhoklis rise to the surface. Remove the pan from heat and set aside.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in another non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and once they begin to splutter, add remaining turmeric powder, remaining coriander-cumin powder, remaining red chilli powder and dhoklis along with the water in which they were cooked. Add salt, mix well and cook for 5 minutes or till the oil separates.
  6. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
