How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Kurmura Tadka with Almonds Recipe

  • Puffed rice (kurmura/murmura) 1 cup

  • Almonds 10-12

  • Oil 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard seeds ¼ teaspoon

  • Curry leaves roughly chopped 6-7

  • Turmeric powder a pinch

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add almonds, curry leaves, turmeric powder and sauté for ten seconds.

Step 2

Add the puffed rice and mix well.

Step 3

Store in an airtight container and serve as required.
