Ingredients list for Jackfruit Payasam - SK khazana

  • 1 cup Jackfruit chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups Coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 2 tablespoons Cashewnuts roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coconut sliced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Raisins
  • 3/4 cup Jaggery (gur) chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Green cardamom powder

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add cashew nuts, coconut slices and raisins, mix and sauté on medium heat till golden brown. Drain them on absorbent paper.
  2. Add jackfruit to the ghee remaining in the same pan, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add 1½ cups water, mix, cover and cook till the jackfruit is pulpy.
  3. Add jaggery and mix, add green cardamom powder and mix well. Cook till jaggery melts and mixture thickens slightly.
  4. Add coconut milk and mix well. Add ¾ of the sautéed cashew nuts-coconut-raisins and mix well. Cook till the coconut milk gets heated through.
  5. Transfer into serving bowls, garnish with the remaining cashew nuts-coconut-raisins mixture and serve hot.
