History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Herb Salad Recipe

  • Fresh Herbs Fresh and Green 12-15

  • Lettuce Leaves Purple and Green 15-20

  • Mint leaves Fresh 15-20

  • Red radish 2-3 medium

  • Iceberg lettuce leaves 5-6

  • Lolo rosso Lettuce Leaves 5-6

  • Romaine Lettuce Leaves 5-6

  • Coriander leaves A few fres sprigs

  • Parsley Fresh and Curly A few fres sprigs

  • Pumpkin seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Pinenuts 1 tablespoon

  • Sesame seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Honey 1 tablespoon

  • Black peppercorns Crushed 1/2 teaspoon


Step 1

Put the smaller green basil leaves into a bowl, tear the bigger ones and add.

Step 2

Add purple basil leaves and mint leaves.

Step 3

Lightly roast pumpkin seeds, pinenuts and sesame seeds.

Step 4

Thinly slice red radish and onion and put into the bowl.

Step 5

Tear iceberg, lolo rosso and romaine lettuce leaves and put into the bowl.

Step 6

Chop a few sprigs of fresh coriander leaves and parsley and add.

Step 7

Add salt, lemon juice, honey and crushed black peppercorns and mix well.

Step 8

Keeping aside a few of the roasted seeds, add the rest to the bowl and mix well.

Step 9

Transfer into a serving plate, garnish with the reserved roasted seeds and serve immediately.
