The cuisine has its roots in a waterborne lifestyle, with aquatic animals, plants and herbs as major ingredients.
Thai cuisine is inextricably interwoven with culture, a mystical mix of fragrant flavours and intriguing history:  given the country’s historical Indian roots - Hindu Buddhism was bought here centuries ago, so many Thai curries are redolent with chillies, garlic, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and onions.

Ingredients for Green Papaya Salad Recipe

  • Raw Papaya shredded 2 cups

  • Bean Sprouts 4 cloves

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh red chilli chopped 1

  • Cherry tomatoes quartered 4

  • Lemon juice 2 tablespoons

  • Brown sugar 2 tablespoons

  • Fish sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Tamarind pulp 1/2 tablespoon

  • Roasted peanuts crushed 1/2 cup

Method

Step 1

Place shredded papaya into a big bowl and crush lightly with a pestle. Take garlic cloves and salt in a mortar and crush with a pestle.

Step 2

Add fresh red chilli and cherry tomatoes and continue to crush. Add the crushed garlic mixture to the papaya along with lemon juice and mix.

Step 3

Take brown sugar in the mortar along with fish sauce and tamarind pulp and pound lightly with the pestle.

Step 4

Add this mixture to the papaya mixture and mix. Add crushed roasted peanuts and mix.

Step 5

Serve immediately.
