Ingredients list for Falafel Baked

  • 1 1/2 cups Cooked Chickpeas cooked (with salt)
  • 1/2 cup Broken Wheat soaked in water
  • 4-5 Fresh parsley sprigs
  • 4-5 Fresh coriander sprigs
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Soda bicarbonate
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • to taste Crushed black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon Crushed garlic
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • Olive oil for spraying

Method

  1. Put cooked chickpeas in a grinder jar. Roughly tear parsley and coriander sprigs and add. Add salt, lemon juice, drained broken wheat, soda bicarbonate, cumin powder and crushed peppercorns and grind to a fine paste. Transfer into a bowl.
  2. Add garlic and onion and mix well. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator for ½ an hour.
  3. Divide the mixture into equal portions, shape them into balls and flatten to make tikkis.
  4. Place aluminum foil in air fryer basket, spray olive oil over it, prick with a knife, place the prepared tikkis, spray some more olive oil over them and fry at 180º C. Remove the basket from air fryer after 5 minutes, flip the tikkis, spray some olive oil and fry for further 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange on a serving plate and serve immediately.
