Ingredients list for Eggless Besan Chocolate Cake

  • 1 cup Gram flour ( besan)
  • 3/4 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 cups for greasing Butter
  • 1/4 cup + for dusting Whole wheat flour , 2 tbsps +
  • 1 1/4 cups Milk
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsps + teaspoons Walnuts , chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups Condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
  • a pinch Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • for drizzling Readymade chocolate ganache
  • to serve Black coffee

Method

  1. Preheat the oven at 180° C. Grease four small 4.1 inches x 1.5 inches loaf tins with butter and dust with whole wheat flour.
  2. Mix milk and apple cider vinegar in a bowl.
  3. Take 2 tbsps chopped walnuts in a small bowl and add 2 tbsps whole wheat flour and mix.
  4. Take 1¼ cups butter in a large bowl, add condensed milk and vanilla essence and beat with an electric hand beater till the mixture turns light and fluffy.
  5. Sift remaining whole wheat flour with gram flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder directly into the butter mixture and fold in gently.
  6. Add the milk-apple cider mixture and walnuts-whole wheat flour mixture and gently fold in to form a lump free batter.
  7. Half fill the greased loaf tins with this batter, tap to remove any air bubbles and sprinkle 1 tsp chopped walnuts on top of each.
  8. Place the loaf tins in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool slightly.
  10. Demould, slice and arrange them on a serving platter. Drizzle chocolate ganache on top and serve with black coffee.
