Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Chicken With Broccoli And Pepper Recipe

  • Boneless chicken cut into 1 inch pieces 450 grams

  • Broccoli separated into florets 1/2 medium

  • Green capsicum cut into 1 inch triangles 1 medium

  • Eggs 2

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 6 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Soy sauce 2 tablespoons

  • MSG 1/4 teaspoon

  • Rice wine (optional) 2 tablespoons

  • Chicken stock 2 cups

  • White pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cinnamon powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Oyster sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Oil 4 tablespoons

  • Garlic finely chopped 2 cloves

  • Sesame seeds (til) toasted 2 teaspoons

Method

Step 1

Mix the eggs, four tablespoons of cornflour, salt and one tablespoon soy sauce into the chicken pieces and leave aside for half an hour. Mix the remaining cornflour in one cup of water. Mix together the remaining soy sauce, MSG, rice wine, chicken stock, salt, white pepper powder, cinnamon powder and oyster sauce.

Step 2

Heat sufficient oil in a wok and deep fry the marinated chicken for two to three minutes. Drain on absorbent paper. Heat four tablespoons oil in another wok or a pan, add garlic and stir fry for one minute. Add broccoli florets and continue to stir fry for a couple of minutes. Stir in sauce and spice mix and bring it to a boil. Stir in the cornflour mixture and cook for a minute or until the sauce starts to thicken, stirring continuously. Add the fried chicken and capsicum pieces and cook for a couple of minutes on medium heat.

Step 3

Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and serve hot.
