And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Batata Song Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled 4 large

  • Dried red chillies

  • Coconut oil 3 tablespoons

  • Onions chopped 2 large

  • Whole dry red chillies 8-10

  • Tamarind 1 lemon size ball

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Peel the boiled potatoes and cut them into one inch sized cubes.

Step 2

Heat coconut oil in a kadai. Add onion in hot oil and sauté. Roast the whole red chillies and grind into a fine paste with tamarind.

Step 3

When the onions turn brown, add the ground paste and sauté. Add half a cup of water and mix. Add salt and potato cubes and mix.

Step 4

Once the water comes to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for four to five minutes or till you get a thick gravy.

Step 5

Serve hot.
