Skillet Brownie

Brownies are a favourite with most children and even adults love to indulge in them. Here we have for you a recipe of the usual dense, gooey brownie baked in a skillet. However there is no difference in the taste.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups chopped dark chocolate
  • 1¼ cups butter + for brushing
  • 1½ cups castor sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup refined flour (maida) 
  • ⅓ cup chopped walnuts + for sprinkling
  • Chopped milk chocolate for sprinkling
  • Vanilla ice cream to serve

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC.
  2. Take together butter and chocolate in a bowl and heat in the microwave till it melts. 
  3. Take castor sugar in another bowl. Break the eggs into it, add vanilla essence and beat with an electric beater till the mixture turns light and fluffy. 
  4. Add the melted chocolate-butter mixture to the beaten eggs and continue to beat till well combined.
  5. Sift the refined flour into this bowl, add walnuts and beat well. 
  6. Grease an 8 inch iron skillet with some butter. 
  7. Transfer the batter into the skillet and sprinkle walnuts and milk chocolate. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes. 
  8. Take the skillet out of the oven and allow to cool down to room temperature. Cut into wedges, place each wedge in individual serving plates and serve topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
