  • 1½ cups rice flour
  • 1 cup chopped jaggery
  • 1¼ teaspoons fennel powder
  • ½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
  • Ghee for cooking


  1. Heat a kadai, add jaggery and ¾ cup water and cook till jaggery melts. Set aside to cool down.
  2. Take rice flour in a bowl, add fennel seeds, green cardamom powder and strain the jaggery syrup directly into the bowl. Mix well. Add ¾ cup water and mix well to make a smooth batter.
  3. Heat a non-stick tawa. Spread a ladleful of batter evenly, drizzle ghee and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook on other side for 2-3 minutes more. Similarly use up all the batter.
  4. Arrange the puas on a serving plate and serve.
