Ingredients for Vella Fae Recipe

  • Semolina (rawa/suji) 1 cup

  • Ghee ½ teaspoon + for cooking

  • Sugar ½ cup

  • Cashewnuts broken 1 tablespoon

  • Green cardamom powder 1 teaspoon

  • Soda bicarbonate a pinch

  • Milk ¾ cup


Step 1

Dry roast semolina in a non-stick pan till fragrant.

Step 2

Heat ½ teaspoon ghee in another non-stick pan. Add semolina, mix and sauté on low heat till 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, transfer into a bowl and cool down to room temperature.

Step 3

Add sugar, cashewnuts, cardamom powder and soda bicarbonate. Add milk gradually and mix well to make a smooth batter. Set aside for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Heat a paniyaram pan. Pour a few drops of ghee in each dent. Pour a spoonful of batter into each dent, cover and cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or till they become fluffy and golden.

Step 5

Serve immediately.
