Ingredients
- 25 medium prawns shelled, deveined, washed and patted dry
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 1/2 tablespoons oil
- Thecha
- 20-25 light green chillies
- 20-25 garlic cloves peeled
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup raw peanuts
- Salt to taste
Method
- Remove the stems of the green chillies and chop them roughly.
- To make thecha, heat 2 tbsps oil in a kadai, add cumin seeds and saute till their colour changes. Add garlic, mix and sauté for 2 minutes. Add peanuts, mix and sauté for 3-4 minutes or till golden brown. Add green chillies, mix well and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Add salt and mix well. Take it off the heat.
- Transfer the mixture into a mortar and pound with the pestle to a coarse paste.
- Take prawns in another bowl, add salt and turmeric powder, mix well and set aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1½ tbsps oil in the same kadai, add the thecha and sauté for 1 minute.
- Add prawns, mix well and saute till the prawns are cooked.
- Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
