Ingredients list for Taftan - SK Khazana

  • 1 3/4 cups for dusting Refined flour (maida)
  • to taste Salt
  • one pinch Castor sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Yeast activated
  • 2 tablespoons Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup + Milk
  • 1 tablespo for greasing Oil
  • to sprinkle Onion seeds (kalonji)
  • for brushi Ghee


  1. Mix together flour, salt and castor sugar in a bowl. Add activated yeast and yogurt and mix again. Add milk and knead into soft dough. Add oil and knead.
  2. Dust a bowl with some flour, transfer the dough in it and cover with a damp muslin cloth. Set aside to rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 180˚ C.
  4. Knock back the dough, divide into equal portions and roll out into discs on a dusted worktop.
  5. Grease a baking tray with some oil, place discs on it and make some small dents by pressing all over with finger tips. Brush with some milk, sprinkle some onion seeds and brush with some ghee.
  6. Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Brush with some more ghee and serve hot.
