Ingredients list for Suji and Cocobnut Barfi-Cook Smart

  • 1C cup Coarse semolina (suji)
  • 1 cup Fine semolina (suji)
  • 1 cup Fresh coconut scraped
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup + to grease Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Rose water
  • 1/2 Lemon juice extracted


  1. Cook sugar with 1 cup water in a non-stick pan till the sugar dissolves.
  2. Put both coarse and fine semolina in a mixing bowl. Add baking powder and mix well. Add yogurt and mix well.
  3. Add ghee and mix well. Add coconut and mix well. Add rose water and mix well. Refrigerate for some time.
  4. Preheat oven to 180º C. Grease a barfi tray with ghee.
  5. Add lemon juice to sugar syrup, mix well and cook till it thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
  6. Spread the semolina mixture evenly in the greased tray. Smoothen the surface with a spoon dipped in water. Cut into squares, place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes or till the top becomes golden brown.
  7. Remove tray from the oven. Pour hot sugar syrup on top and let the barfi pieces soak the syrup.
  8. Separate the pieces and serve.
