Samosa Kadhi Chaat

Ingredients 

  • 8 small samosas
  • 2 cups yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
  • A  pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-green chilli paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 3 dried red chillies, broken
  • 15-20 black peppercorns
  • 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion, finely sliced
  • Tamarind chutney as required
  • Green chutney as required
  • Sev as required

Method

  1. Mix together yogurt, besan, asafoetida, ginger-green chilli paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt in a bowl and whisk well.
  2. Add 2½ -3 cups of water and whisk again. Heat oil in a non stick handi.
  3. Add red chillies, black peppercorns, methi dana, cumin seeds and sauté till fragrant. Add the onion and sauté lightly.
  4. Add the yogurt mixture and cook stirring continuously till it begins to thicken.
  5. Add the samosas and mix well. Transfer into a bowl, garnish with tamarind chutney, green chutney and sev and serve hot.
