Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Raita Recipe

  • Yogurt 2 cups

  • Cucumbers peeled 2 medium

  • Tomatoes 2

  • Onions 2 medium

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin powder roasted 1 teaspoon + for garnishing

  • Red chilli powder for garnishing

  • Salt to taste


Step 1

Finely chop onions, cucumbers and tomatoes and place in a large bowl.

Step 2

Add salt, cumin powder and yogurt. Mix well.

Step 3

Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 4

Transfer raita into a serving bowl. Garnish with cumin powder and red chilli powder.

Step 5

Serve chilled.
