Ingredients list for Pyaaz aur Tamatar ke Buns

  • 2 medium Onions , sliced
  • 2 medium Tomatoes , sliced
  • 6-8 Buns
  • 1-2 tablespoons Oil
  • as required Butter
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Tomato ketchup


  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add onions and saute till translucent. Add tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes turn soft and pulpy.
  2. Halve each bun horizontally without cutting through, spread a little butter on one half.
  3. To the onion-tomato mixture add salt, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, sugar and tomato ketchup, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Heat some butter in another non-stick pan. Fill the buns with onion and tomato mixture and place them in the pan and cook, turning sides, till crisp on both sides. Apply more butter if required. Press the buns lightly and remove from heat.
  5. Arrange them on a serving platter and serve immediately.
