Favourite seafood? Prawns, prawns and more of prawns. A wide variety of small crustaceans, tiny relatives of the lobster, are known as prawns. Prawns are normally translucent when raw but get their distinctive pink or red colour on being cooked. one word of caution – if buying unpeeled prawns, smell for freshness and look for bright, shiny shells that have some spring left in them.

Ingredients for Prawn Bhajia-Cook Smart Recipe

  • Medium prawns cleaned, deveined and chopped roughly 15-20

  • Oil to deep fry

  • Large onions 2

  • Green chllies 3

  • Spring onions with greens 2

  • Green chilli sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Ice cubes 5-6

  • Refined flour (maida) 3 tablespoons

  • Red chilli powder to sprinkle

  • Black sesame seeds (kale til) to sprinkle

Method

Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 2

Roughly slice onions and put into a bowl. Finely chop green chilli and add to the bowl. Roughly slice spring onions with some greens and add to the bowl. Add prawns, green chilli sauce, salt and ice cubes and mix well.

Step 3

Add refined flour and mix well. Add some 2 tablespoons chilled water and mix.

Step 4

Pick up little mixture with a spoon and put into hot oil and deep fry till crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 5

Transfer onto a serving plate, sprinkle red chilli powder and black sesame seeds and serve immediately.
