Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh tomato puree
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
- 1 medium Onion , finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- Crushed black peppercorns to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon red chilli flakes
- 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
- 3-4 fresh basil leaves + to garnish
- 2 pizza bases
- Toppings of your choice
- Mozzarella cheese as required
Method
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan, add garlic and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add onion, mix and sauté till golden brown. Add tomato puree, mix and saute for a minute. Add salt and peppercorn and mix well. Add 1 cup water and mix, and cook for a minute.
- Add paprika and red chilli flakes and mix well. Add tomato ketchup, mix and sauté on medium heat for 5-7 minutes. Tear and add basil leaves and mix well. Remove the pan from heat and let the sauce cool.
- Preheat the oven to 180º C.
- Keep the pizza base on a baking tray, spread a ladleful of pizza sauce on it. Top with topping of your choice and mozzarella cheese. Bake for 5 minutes. Make another pizza similarly.
- Serve the sauce as a dip with pizza.
