Ingredients
- 1 cup cottage cheese (paneer), grated
- ¼ cup cabbage shredded + to serve
- ⅓ cup carrots, finely chopped
- 2 medium potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Crushed black peppercorns to taste
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon red chilli paste
- 1 tablespoon cornflour
- 10-12 breadsticks
- Oil to deep fry
Batter
- ½ cup refined flour
- Salt to taste
- Crushed black peppercorns to taste
- ½ cup cornflour
- 1 tablespoon red chilli paste
Method
- Take cottage cheese in a bowl, add cabbage and carrots and mix well. Add potatoes and mix well.
- Add lemon juice, salt, crushed black peppercorns, ginger-garlic paste and red chilli paste and mix well.
- Add cornflour and mix. Divide the mixture into equal portions. Wrap each portion around a breadsticks and shape into a lollipop.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Mix together refined flour, salt, crushed black peppercorns, cornflour, red chilli paste and sufficient water and whisk to make a smooth and semi thick batter.
- Dip the lollipops in the batter, slide them into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Make a bed of shredded cabbage on a serving platter, keep the lollipops on them, place a bowl of schezwan sauce in the middle and serve hot.
