Ingredients list for Moong Aur Hare Lasun Ki Dal
- 1 small bunch Fresh green garlic (hare lasun)
- 3/4 cup Whole green gram soaked and drained
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- to taste Salt
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- Asafoetida a pinch of
- 1/2 teaspoon Green chilli paste
- 2 teaspoons Ginger-garlic paste
- 2 medium Tomatoes chopped
- 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
- for garnish Fresh coriander springs
- to serve Steamed rice
Method
- Finely chop fresh green garlic.
- Mix together green gram, turmeric powder and salt in a pressure cooker and mix well. Cook till 2 whistles are released.
- Heat oil in a non-stick deep pan, add cumin seeds and let them change colour. Add asafoetida, green chilli paste and ginger garlic paste and mix well
- Add chopped green garlic and sauté for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and mix well. Cook for 2 minutes or till tomatoes turn soft and pulpy.
- Open the cooker once the pressure has reduced completely and add gram mixture and mix well. Add ½ cup water and adjust salt and mix, Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Sprinkle chopped coriander and take the pan off the heat. Transfer into a serving bowl and garnish with coriander sprig.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
