Jain Mexican Sauce

This sauce has no onion or garlic. This spicy roasted bell pepper sauce has plenty of flavour even without the use of onion and garlic. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients 

  • 1½ -2 medium red bell peppers, finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 4-5 dried red chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add red bell pepper and sauté for 30 seconds. Add dried red chillies, mix, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add tomatoes, mix, cover and cook for 5-10 minutes. Add salt, sugar and crushed carom seeds, mix and cook for a minute. Remove from heat and cool.
  3. Grind the prepared mixture to a fine paste.
  4. Serve.
